KanoA is an incredible talent, a true humble frother who exudes a Grom like Yoda wisdom. His surfing is so diverse and adaptable to all conditions and never holds back. I think all he needs to do though for once is to let himself off the hook and to stop self internalising the pressure of the spectacle of the big stage... My biggest advice for him would be to go and get absolutely shit faced the night before a big event and go surf while still half cut. He surfs best when he knows he’s the underdog. When he expects nothing. He wants to be “calm” and relaxed in the moment - however that’s like a dog chasing his tail. You cannot achieve true zen mind set until you don’t “try” to achieve it... He’s a young guy in a big wide world performing at the highest level. Perhaps he needs to reframe his perspective and know that he is already good enough! He should go on some all nighters prior and during some big events. Life is short and I worry that he will miss the bigger picture should he not let loose and experience girls, parties and even surfing a single fin, a mal, body surfing ...so many ways of experiencing the vibrating ocean. Focus on being your best for him and doing good for others out of love, acceptance of all that happens to you and most off all faith and trust in it. Amazing video, I love Kanoa, BUT that noise that goes along the entire documentary is super annoying. I understand the type of vibe you're trying to transmit but it's literally on top of the whole film and it's super super loud. But the rest of the edit it's fire.

Kanoa is the most arrogant, cocky, too good for anybody other than him and his friends in the water. Seen him show up to localized line ups and try to paddle circles around people and burn the groms. When he was called out about it he had some smart ass comment. Kid needs to learn to stay humble and be grateful that he had parents that invested all their time to make sure he is where he is now.
Sold out america so he can get a spot on the Japan Olympic team. He knew he wouldn't qualify on the USA team so he claimed Japan. Where did he grow up and learn how to surf again??
